1. What are your names?

Trevor and Shawn Beaman

 2. When did you start doing CrossFit? 

Trevor:  I started doing CrossFit (5 days a week) in May 2013 before that it was very sporadic that I would train in a CrossFit manner.

Shawn:  I went through fundamentals in October 2012 and started the group WODs in November 2012.

3. What got you into CrossFit? 

Trevor:  My wife and the change in overall fitness level of the people I know who do CrossFit on a regular basis.

Shawn: I've known about CrossFit for a very long time but always heard bad things about it so I never got into it.  Annie (who also goes to Phalanx CrossFit) would talk to me about it and how much she loved it so I thought I would give it a shot!  All the bad things I had heard were proved wrong!

4. What do you like about CrossFit? 
What a team!

Trevor:  It always changes and keeps me motivated to continue working and not a regiment of Legs, Back, Chest days which gets old over time.

Shawn:  I love that there is a group of people going through the workout together, experiencing everything
together, whether it be pain or success! Its hard stopping when you look to the person next to you pushing themselves to lift more or go faster.

5. What is your favorite workout and why? 

Trevor
:  5 RDS for time
10 x Dead Lift  (315 LBS
30 x GHD Situps
I like heavy weight deadlift workouts.

Shawn:   I love doing all of the hero WODs.  It is just something about giving your all for an hour, in honor of someone who gave their all!

6. What is your least favorite workout and why? 

Trevor:
Annie
5 rounds:
50-40-30-20-10
Reps of Double-unders + Sit-ups
I get so upset from not being able to do Double-unders that this workout will be hard for me to keep a smile.

Shawn:  Anything that involves rowing.  The number just never seems like it moves fast enough.

7. What else should we know about you? 

Trevor:  I have been in the United States Army for over 12 years and currently working as a Special Forces Communicator in 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, NC. I have multiple deployments to Afghanistan and CrossFit has changed my physical fitness level to be able to keep up with the rigors of combat.  CrossFit is something that I could do any where in the world with minimal supplies.

Shawn: I am a Behavior Analyst and work with children with autism.  We have a one year old goldendoodle who we would put in CrossFit for dogs if it existed! :)

8. How has CrossFit changed your daily life? Your Marriage?
Shawn Beaman

Trevor: CrossFit has impacted my marriage by connecting us to something that we are passionate about. Shawn has become more independent because she is stronger and able to complete tasks that she had struggled with in the past. Thank you Brian, Tammy, Zack, and all the other coaches for all your hard work and time you put in making my wife a STRONGER all around woman and wife.

Shawn:  We love going to the workouts together.  He encourages me to do better and to push myself! I love that we are doing something healthy together.

9. What personal changes have you noticed since starting CrossFit? 

Trevor:  By doing CrossFit/working out has changed our decisions of the food we consume and purchase.

Shawn: I am so much stronger physically and mentally!  Working with children all day long is tiring but now I don’t end the day exhausted!
